Herpes: symptoms, treatment
Herpes is a viral disease, characterized by a variety of symptoms, a prolonged course with relapses and a high degree of contagiousness. In various forms, a fairly large proportion of the population suffers from it. In young people from 30 years to 35 percent morbidity is higher than that of the rest of the population.
How does infection with herpes occur?
Herpetic virus is transmitted from person to personto a person by contact. There is an infection at sexual contacts, at a kiss, at insufficient personal hygiene. Distinguish also herpes of newborns, to which the child becomes infected, passing through the birth canal of a mother infected with herpes. The virus is transmitted regardless of the presence of obvious clinical manifestations, but if they exist, the risk rises.
Herpes, symptoms and manifestations
The incubation period for infection is from 3 days to 2 weeks.
In the future, precursors of the disease"Herpes", the symptoms of infection are general weakness, an increase in temperature to 38 ° C, a painful increase in inguinal lymph nodes, increased urination, muscle pain. Infection can occur with intimate contacts. In the event that it is genital herpes, the symptoms can appear on the genitals: itching, burning, pain. Sometimes the patient is sick, his head grows numb, his head hurts. All the symptoms of herpes disappear on their own, as soon as a rash appears on the mucous membranes of the genitals (genitals, vulva, clitoris, vagina, cervix). Small bubbles with fluid are felt on the skin areas that are adjacent to the genitals. After a while, the contents of the bubbles become cloudy, they burst, dying sores are formed, covered with crusts. In uncomplicated cases, on the 5th-7th day, the crusts disappear, leaving a stain. Even if you do not treat the disease, its symptoms go away on their own in a couple of weeks.
The clinical picture of recurrent relapseschronic genital infection is very diverse. It is difficult to diagnose relapses, because the precursor period is short, there may be no signs of discomfort. In some cases, patients note for 6-12 hours before the rash tingling at the site of the primary invasion of herpes. Usually relapses flow easily, and rashes bother no more than 3-5 days or not at all, but there is itching, puffiness, a feeling of discomfort on the genitals. Patients with good immunity easily tolerate herpes, the symptoms manifest themselves in a latent form. Low immunity is a good soil for severe and prolonged herpetic lesions.
Types of the disease are different depending on where the rash is localized: urogenital (sexual) herpes, mouth, eyes, skin, herpes of internal organs.
Herpes, the symptoms of which are described above,is diagnosed by several modern methods provided by clinics. The disease should be differentiated from similar manifestations of other diseases, which does not make much effort. To identify a hidden infection, a laboratory test using PCR, TCHR, dot-hybridization is used.
