What to do if suddenly there were wheezing in infants
Quite a large number of mothers are faced with such a problem as wheezing in infants. They appear often and may even be immediately after birth. Also, wheezing in infants can be stronger when, for example, they sleep or eat. If the pediatrician has not found any serious problems causing wheezing in the infant, then the parents may well help their child to get rid of this unpleasant phenomenon.
Causes of recurrent wheezing in infants
1. Edema on the membranes of the respiratory tract.
2. Fluid that has accumulated in the airway.
3. Some third-party body that has got into the respiratory tract.
4. Air too dry.
It is also often the reason for the especially natural features of children's respiratory tracts - they are too narrow, the air cannot freely enter the lungs, or the larynx has not yet become firm enough, and because of this, the nasopharynx begins to vibrate strongly when breathing.
How to treat wheezing in infants?
It is necessary to treat wheezing in an infant baby with drugs only when the cause of these wheezing is caused by allergens that affect the respiratory tract, or by an inflammatory process in the same place. In such cases, the doctors most often prescribe medications to the child that are in the steroid group and help treat the baby. Also, infants sometimes wheeze when an infection caused by a bacterium enters the body. Then it is best to treat infants with antibiotic therapy.
A child wheezing due to dry air: how to help?
In most cases of wheezing among infants, their cause is too dry for small lungs the air in the room in which the child sleeps. Most often it happens in winter, because then all the rooms, including the baby’s bedroom, include heating devices. In this regard, small crusts start to form in the baby’s nose because of the large accumulation of mucus. They cannot come out of the nose in a natural way, since they linger in its narrow and thin nasal passages, causing wheezing in infants. If this happens, the main task of the parents of the baby is to provide him with optimal conditions for sleep, that is, to humidify too dry air. This can be achieved very simple and inexpensive methods: for example, put some kind of container filled with water in the bedroom of the baby. Or it is worth wetting any fabric in the baby’s room, which will also help. You can, however, facilitate your work: buy a humidifier, because they have recently become very popular. These are devices that allow you to normalize the level of humidity in the premises.
Usually, even if the parents did nothing to get rid of wheezing in the infant, then up to three years these wheezing will disappear by themselves. True, there are several conditions. First: the child does not get sick very often and leads a rather active lifestyle for his age.
